Personal and cultural memories have become the dominant theme of my work. It is this notion, and the discovery of Albert Bierdstadt’s concept of “the power of combination”, that has directed my photography beyond the random documentation stage into more contemplative, premeditated constructions.

Neuroscientists have long viewed memory as a kind of neural architecture; which can be distorted, stretched and warped. With this realization, I create my photographs by merging images. Fabricating constructions that are both realistic and synthetic, truth and exaggerations.

When it comes to representing our existence, the structures where we live our lives are the most visible. The use of buildings allows me to create images that are emblematic not only of the world from which they come, but the lives and memories of the people they represent
